DJ Gilgamesh
DJ Gilgamesh’s journey into music began in the early 1990s, spinning records at house parties alongside his cousins in and around the Los Angeles area. These grassroots gatherings sparked his passion for mixing and set the stage for a lifelong exploration of sound.
As he immersed himself in LA’s underground techno and house scenes, he discovered the hypnotic rhythms and raw energy of Detroit techno—a sound that deeply resonated with him and would become a defining influence on his musical identity.
Over the years, DJ Gilgamesh performed at a variety of venues and had the rare opportunity to meet and learn from legendary pioneers including Carl Craig, Derrick May, Juan Atkins, Kenny Larkin, Stacey Pullen, Aphex Twin, and Delano Smith. Their innovative artistry left a lasting impact on his approach to music.
In the mid-2000s, he took a hiatus from the LA underground to pursue a career in photojournalism, a field that allowed him to explore storytelling through a different lens. Yet his love for vinyl and Detroit techno never waned. He continues to collect records, experiment in his studio, and share mixes through online performances—bridging analog soul and digital platforms with an enduring passion for the craft.
